Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) is a political party operating in the Maldives, with the aims of facilitating greater prosperity for the people, increasing public participation in governance, promoting Islamic principles, maintaining peace and harmony, and protecting national unity and identity.
The founder of DRP is the architect of the social and economy progress that the Maldives has attained over the past quarter-century, the Head of State and Government, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
The members of President Gayoom’s Cabinet, and the vast majority of senior Government officials and staff of Government authorities are members of DRP.
The overwhelming majority of Members of the People’s Majlis (the Parliament) and the People’s Special Majlis (the Constitutional Assembly) are also with DRP.
Many corporate sector personalities and members of the general public have also joined the Party, and are continuing to do so.
