Haa Alifu Atoll

Haa Alif Atoll, also known as Thiladhunmathi Uthuruburi (Northern Thiladhunmathi Atoll), is the Maldives’ northernmost administrative division. The atoll includes Ihavandhippolhu, the Maldives’ northernmost natural atoll, as well as a section of the larger Thiladhunmathi or Tiladummati Atoll. On May 21, 1958, Thiladhunmathi was divided into northern and southern divisions. The north division was combined with Ihavandhippolhu to form Haa Alif Atoll, also known as Thiladhumathi North.

The atoll is made up of 42 islands, 14 of which are populated. It is the Maldives’ third-largest atoll in terms of population and land area.
