Seenu Atoll
Addu Atoll, also known as Seenu Atoll, is a natural atoll in the Maldives’ southernmost region, stretching the archipelago into the Southern Hemisphere. The atoll is located approximately 541 kilometers south of the capital city of Malé and is made up of 26 natural islands.
Administratively, Addu Atoll is home to Addu City, one of the Maldives’ two cities. Addu City is made up of four natural atoll islands: Hulhudhoo, Maradhoo, Feydhoo, and Hithadhoo. The city is divided into seven districts, each representing a different part of Addu City.
Gan, the largest island in Addu Atoll, is located in the south of the atoll. Gan Island has a colorful history, having served as a British Royal Air Force base during WWII. Gan International Airport now serves as the primary entry point to Addu Atoll for visitors from all over the world.
